In this print, two people hold flashlights during an unpredictable rolling power outage, otherwise known as a brownout. This image is part of an ongoing series of paintings based on brownouts as well as many other experiences from her recent visits with family in the Philippines.
Maria Stabio is a first generation Filipino-American artist. She graduated with a BFA in Painting from Boston University and an MFA in Visual Arts from Columbia University. She currently lives and works in rural Pennsylvania and Brooklyn, NY.
